I'm 19 and coaching middle school football. I plan on being a succesful coach at the high school or small college ranks. Right now my offense of choice is the flexbone.
I've been reading Navy/Georgia Southern, and other option playbooks and I can't find a definate set of diagrams and rules for the rocket toss. Does anyone have some good rules and diagrams of it?
Also, how do I block it properly on the edge and downfield since you can't cut block in high school outside the tackle box?

The play-side tackle and slot have to communicate. They need to determine how many players are outside the tackle box. If there is one player (4-4, Cover 3 defense), the slot takes him and the tackle works ILB to Safety . If there are two players outside the tackle box (4-3, Cover 2/4, 3-4 Cover 2/4), the slot usually takes the safety and the tackle takes the player closest to the L.O.S. The biggest key to the play being successful is getting the slot who is receiving the pitch on a full sprint and outside the tackle box when he catches the ball. It was a great play for us this past fall. It does not require a ton of reps to be a productive play. There is an excellent explanation of this play by Coach Scott Dieterich from Parkview HS in Louisiana in his Combination Triple Option DVD series.
