What do you have your QB's look at specifically to decide Give/Pull on the dive reads?

On the midline it is the 3 technique out, on the inside veer it is the 6 technique out and for the outside veer it is the 9 technique. Hope this helps.

Bulldog: It is up to the QB to have quick hands, quick feet and a quick mind. He must "read" both the dive key and the pitch key in order to decide what to do with the ball. If the dive key comes down hard on the LOS and attacks the FB, then the decision would be to "keep" the ball. If the dive key runs up field to get at the QB, then a "give" is in order. If the dive key "soft plays" the situation by neither attacking or making any effort to key on either the QB of FB, then it is up to the QB to keep the "ride" a bit longer before he decides on what to do. Bottom line is: If the QB is ever unsure as to what to do, he always GIVES the ball to the FB.
As far as the pitch key goes, the QB must be aggressive and attack the pitch key's inside shoulder...the QB cannot be tame at this point...if he is, then the pursuit of the other defensive players will KILL the option game. Remember: Pursuit KILLS all options. So, the QB must attack the inside shoulder of the pitch key to FORCE him to decide...if the key turns his shoulders towards the QB, then a pitch is made...if he keeps his shopulders square, then a KEEP is in order.
Hope this helps.
