Just curious, how many of you coach in an area where you can cut block outside of the box i.e. Texas.
Do you find this to be a big advatage to the option running game? I feel that it would be. I wish it were legal here.

Man do i wish we could cut outside the box. We would be so much better. We are so much smaller than everyone else.

I second Triple! if we could cut due to size issues what a difference that would make.

It's good to know someone out there shares my pain. Those LB's wouldn't stand a chance!!!

I agree, we can't cut outside the box in CT but when you watch a college team run the triple with cutting, it makes sucha difference.

It makes the running back and reciever blocks much easier and more effective also.
We are close enough to texas that we play a couple of texas teams a year. When we play down there our RB's almost always have their best blocking games of the year.

Someone should really look into this rule in High School. I think you should be able to as well. It is football, it is made to be played rough. A lot of people say that it is too dangerous (i.e. Knee Injuries) but, I think it is all about how you teach it. In college I made a killing off of this, but my OLINE coach taught me to throw at the Thigh Pads and try to bear crawl when I hit the ground. I coach Offensive line for a high school in Louisiana and I think we could make a killin' if they legalized this.

The injury issue always comes up.
How is taking out the legs of a running back in the open field any different from cut blocking a DB or LBer? I say the DB or LB have a better chance of defending the cut than the RB does. I think way more injuries come from the "chop" block or high/low than from a cut.
