Coaches,
What kinds of off-season programs do you run. I would like to know timeline-when you start what and how you go about doing it.
do you bring them in the morning twice a week. Do you do it during weight training (etc)
Thanks in advance

My previous school used as modified BFS program w/ speed city. Once our off-season started in earnest usually January the kids would be in 3 days a week and after Spring Break when we would begin attendance, we would up it to 4 days per week.
The tool that was the best though was our evaluatin system called the combine. I basically designed it to be similar to the NFL combine where kids competed versus tables to score points. I was printed in "gridiron Strategies" dec 2006/Jan 2007 with a more in depth article and would be glad to talk about or share my information

charrison- I would like to get more info on your points based system. I did something similar YEARS ago, but have since misplaced the info. We had 5 to 7 events that were broken down to times/reps that were equal to a points chart based on position. We came up with guidelines for categories based on cumulative points. Top points received T-shirts and things like that.
I let a coach borrow the stuff I had and never got it back. I have been looking for something like it for the past 3 years. So any info you can share would be great.

Great idea charrison, would love to hear more details. One idea I've bounced around but never implemented: Have you ever seen those strong man competitions on ESPN? Doing something like that but gearing it toward football. Make it more fun and level the playing field for skill vs line; frosh vs soph vs varsity? Also, in your combine do you do it by position; group; age- Thanks coach love to hear more.

I'll be happy to email everyone the files if they want just drop me a line charrison@cms.maisd.com
The competition of the combine has been more individual Lineman v. Lineman, Senior Versus Senior, and everybody vs. everybody. But you could easily set up some teams or compete class vs. class.
