We run into problems vs. a 4-4 when the OLB shoots up field faster than the SB can get to him. What have some of you done to block the OLB when running rocket?

What we would do is go to a Wingback and two split ends on the same side on the line. Now the backer has to walk out with the rec. At least he is further away so that you can make a cut and you wingback now has an easier block on the ilb or fs

we would also block on with the slot and have the se come down and "seal" or dbl the olb

We have cracked the OSLB with the SE. We have also gone unbalanced and outflanked our opponents. We did this on Thanksgiving and had great results. You can't do it every play but its a nice wrinkle.

Thanks guys. Those are some things that we did but we were terrible blockers on the outside.
Do you guys zone block on this play or try and pull and OL to the outside?

We've done it both ways. We usually game plan it for our opponents.

Anytime we see a 4-4 or 5-3, got to go unbalanced some how.
