to a te or a wing side how would you block the college 4-3 front with two deep safeties....in other words who is the pitch key

I think it would normally be the DE. If the LB is playing off the line and head over the OT and the DE is over or outside the TE. Greg

Hey, I am just an amature. But, in College 4-3 the DE's would line up just outside the TE and the OLB would line up off the line and over the tackle (like 3-4 ILB would over the guards). If you are ISV to the TE, the TE would either arc to CB or SS (didn't you say 2 deep) or TED to the OLB and SS and the DE would be the pitch read. Would you smart guys read the OLB as the pitch read here? In OSV you would end up with the an outside guy as the pitch read. The TE down on the OLB and the DE as the dive read. Hopefully a pro with some experience that doesn't come from a book or TV screen will get it right. Hope I helped and didn't confuse. Greg

Well according to DeMeo's Explosive Multi-Bone (just showing the front, not the defensive backfield rotation), the OLB would be the dive read and the DE the pitch read from a College 4-3. Of course using a TE or WB you could TED the OLB and give everytime or arc to the CB or a Safety. Greg

If we were using a balanced TE formation this is how we would the College 4-3 witha cov 2 shell behind it. (college to me means the LB is alligned inside of the DE)
PSRB - Seal from LB to saftey. Emphasis on the saftey but the RB has to check to maek sure the SAM did not scrap over the top of our TE PSTE- inside release to the SAM Linebacker. If he scraps over the top quickly continue to climb to the saftey. (this should not happen, we have a good angle on the sam) PST - combo with psg up to the MIKE Lber PSG - Combo the DT with pst C - take best possible angle to the Mike Lber, if the mike is done pick up the Will Lber pursuing. BSG - SCOOP call the bst to CUT a 2 or 3 tech BST - SCOOP check for call from bsg to CUT DT BSRB - motion pitch path FB - Run IV path tight and Fast QB - Read DE for dive and Corner for pitch BSWR - cross field cut off
We try and keep things as simple as possible: the first dowlineman outside of a 3 technique is the dive read, the next defender outside of the dive read is the pitch read every time. In the event that our RB has to pick up the Sam we will make the saftey takle us in space, if he does we'll take our 4 yard gain and get back in the huddle.
