Split back guys?
How do you run midline?

We run the midline from splitbacks pretty successfully. We have the dive backs first step go inside and toward the LOS in order to get right in the middle of the center. We then have the "pitch man" take two steps in his pitch route and then lead through B gap to the fallin outside linebacker.
It is essentially a double option, as we very rarely pitched the ball on midline.
I hope this makes sense...

Thanks for the response.....A couple more questions
Where are the backs aligned before the snap, where on the LOS and how deep?
Is the diveback's path at an angle or does he go vertical after his angle step?

I think in the Pitt State back alignment they must be able to touch fingertips. So they are pretty tight to each other. This would make the midline much easier to run.

Bulldog,
Our backs' base alignment is directly behind the guards with their hands (while in the set position) are 4 1/2 yards from the ball. When you run midline, you can cheat them up to the LOS a half a yard or so without tipping the play off. This allows for a quicker mesh, but that has a lot to do with how quick your personnel are.
