Coach Veer brings up great point about adding a TE. If you can force that 2i to become a 3 then you can go back and run more midline. When we have faced this look in the past and added a TE we would get what I call heavy 3 (one that starts tight to the G outside shoulder and is squeezing hard right away) that was squeezing down as soon as that guard ISV released. The problem that we have had was even when we would get three tech he was squeezing so hard it was very often a pull and would get eaten up by that PSILB who was already filling B gap when the tackle gave him that open window after blocking out on the end. Many times are HB were causing stalemates in the whole because the LB was flying very hard to the B Gap. A thought I have been throwing around my head this winter and would love to hear if anyone has done this ,heard of this ,or thinks this is just dumb idea would be to run midline to a TE formation and have the OLine do the following.
I would run this if the Defense is giving the following look-SORRY THIS ISN'T EXACT I HAVE NOT QUITE FIGURED HOW TO DRAW IN DEFENSES
--------------------------------------S--------------------------------------------------------- C---------------------------------------------- C-------------------
------------------------S------B-------------B---------S-------------------------
----------------------------E-----T-------T-------E------------------------------
------------WR----------- T---G---C---G---T---TE----------------------------
------------------------ HB----------Q--------------HB--------------------------
--------------------------------------FB------------------------------------------
PSOG- Run a G Scheme-- Quick Trap the PSDE who is probably in a 7 Tech- Giving that Tackle false read
PSOT-ISV release to the PSILB aiming for his inside shoulder to block him outside- Many times in this look I think that ILB are reading the OT. If OT blocks out on the end they fill an open window on the line of scrimmage. If the tackle inside veer releases, he is scraping over top to take QB to pitch, while the DE is squeezing behind him to take what he would read as Inside veer dive. So we will give him a false read.
TE-- I would send the TE to second level.
The QB and Fullback would run midline the exact same way.
Like I said I have never run this before and never seen it before, I am looking for any and all opinions or ideas on this. In the league we play in we see alot of 4-4 teams and many of them gave this look or a very similar look to this often.
