Ok, I'm new to this option game (2 years but triple and midline only) and have been exploring. Came across an AFCA article on the Freeze option which is a merge of the midline and triple, TB freezes in place until mesh is almost over. I'm pretty excited about this as we run both the triple and the midline and I'm always looking for variations. Based on the little bit I know so far this will fit in really well with what we do and the formations we run.
Does anyone have any comments on running this option? Do you have any rules for running it? This was apparently the option that McNabb ran at Syracuse.

littlevikings,
Syracuse ran the play off of their "freeze" trap.
On the trap play, the PSG blocks inside. C blocks away. BSG pulls traps the 3-tech. PST, PSTE zone block the C and D-gaps.
On the freeze option, the BSG logs the 3-tech. The QB pitches off the force player.

Isn't it just trap option from the I. If the TB went playside on the snap, he would be way out of relationship by the time the trap mesh was finished. Greg

We have a George De Leon (syracuse) "freeze option" video. Its a good video, Coach DeLeon even demonstrates the blocking techniques.
We have neer run it but I have watched the video a few times. (makes me an expert RIGHT)
Midline action with QB / FB (n read), BSG pulling playside looking Log to Kick, Pitch off of Force (I think) I think the pst pste were zoning but don't quote me on that.
Who runs the Midline Triple? We run it a little but always pitch off of the emol. Do any of you block the emol and pitch off of the force?
